Reggaetón star Daddy Yankee is set to announce his “Who’s Your Daddy” tour at a press conference tomorrow (July 27) in New York City. The jaunt, presented by C árdenas Marketing Network, will take Yankee to 11 U.S. cities, as well as five stops in Latin America.
Although there have been several multi-act mega reggaetón concerts in recent months, this marks the first time a reggaetón artist will headline an arena tour in the United States. Yankee will play in 10,000 seat-plus venues, including the Aug. 27 kick-off date at New York’s Madison Square Garden. He will share the date with pop/vallenato star Carlos Vives, with whom he’ll also team up with at Cox Arena in San Diego’s Cox Arena.
At press time, the duo of Zion & Lenox were slated to be the opening act. Tickets for most shows will range from $45 to $100.
Henry Cárdenas, president of CMN, says the tour will be promoted to Hispanic and non-Hispanic audiences alike via a sponsorship deal with multiple radio stations in different cities.
