DaBaby‘s older brother Glenn Johnson has died after sustaining a gunshot wound, police confirm to Billboard.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department of North Carolina said in a statement that officers responded to a call on Tuesday (Nov. 3) at about 1:39 p.m. regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, law enforcement found a male — identified as Johnson — who had “sustained a gunshot wound.” Johnson was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Added the police: “This incident is currently classified as a death investigation.”
The Mecklenburg Medical Examiner’s Office also confirmed to Billboard that 34-year-old Johnson’s body is with their office. A cause of death has not been confirmed.
On Tuesday night, DaBaby’s Instagram bio read, “LONG LIVE MY BROTHER.”
In his Instagram Stories, the 28-year-old rapper quoted a line about his brother from his song “Intro,” and then wrote, “I would’ve gave up all I had to see you happy.”
Billboard has reached out to a rep for DaBaby for comment.
