Crosby, Stills & Nash, Mark Knopfler, Los Lobos, Vampire Weekend, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Battles are among the acts set to perform at this year’s Central Park SummerStage concert series. The free music and performance art program launches on June 13 with Mavis Staples and continues through the middle of August.
In order to raise money for the season, six benefit concerts have been scheduled, including Knopfler on July 23, Crosby, Stills & Nash on July 29 and Sonny Rollins on Aug. 6. The program also includes appearances from Kid Sister, Lemon, Will Power, LaBruja, Afrika Bambaataa Santogold, Little Jackie, Richard Price, Los Lonely Boys, Yael Naim, Black Dice, Maria Rita and Kinky.
Dance troupes and comedy acts will also be featured, with all events taking place at the Rumsey Playfield in New York’s Central Park. A full roster of performers can be found on the SummerStage Web site.
Acts like Joss Stone, the Decemberists, Beastie Boys, the Black Crowes and Paul Van Dyke led the SummerStage schedule last year.
