
As college basketball approaches the Sweet 16, March Madness has become March Sadness for many diehard fans.
One Villanova devotee reached meme status when the team was upset by NC State on March 21. Villanova pep band piccolo player Roxanne Chalifoux was moved to tears during her team’s loss, but she valiantly played on through her emotional moment — which was then broadcast on the Jumbotron, and subsequently on national television.

After being the butt of jokes across the internet, Chalifoux was invited to perform the Villanova fight song alongside the Roots on The Tonight Show, which might have begun to make up for her team’s failed championship run. Host Jimmy Fallon felt so badly he called up Taylor Swift to get Chalifoux a pair of tickets to her upcoming world tour. Watch probably the Roots’ first piccolo player perform below:
