Cristina Ramos has made an art form out of surprises. When the Spanish rock opera singer graced the stage for the final of America’s Got Talent: The Champions on Monday night, she did what does best with a performance stacked with surprises.
Ramos’ cover of “Call Me,” with its volley of operatic notes and rock moments, was a light year from Blondie’s original. The look of surprise on the judges’ faces was priceless. Later, Heidi Klum described the 2016 Spain’s Got Talent champ as like a “wild animal on stage,” Howie Mandel said she “set a bar” and Simon Cowell said her vocal was “insanely good.”
