Creative Technology, the Singapore-based digital-entertainment products manufacturer, has unveiled a new MP3 player that it has positioned to compete against Apple Computer’s iPod.
The 2.5-inch screen Zen Vision:M player has 30 gigabytes of storage space and is able to store up to 15,000 songs. It has the facility to play videos and display thousands of photographs.
Moreover, the device supports a variety of existing digital-music stores, including Napster. Its rechargeable batteries can provide up to 15 hours of music playback. Other features include an FM radio, built-in microphone and four hours of video playback.
Digitalized content is protected by Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Media Audio digital rights management system.
Nasdaq-quoted Creative also manufactures the Zen Micro, Zen Nano Plus and Zen Sleek line.
The new device will retail for a recommended price $349, excluding VAT.
