Craig David’s “7 Days” (Wildstar) was nominated in the best British single and video categories for the Brit 2001 Awards, bringing his tally for the annual gala to a record-breaking six nominations. The previous record for most nominations in a single year was held by Blur, who garnered five in both 1995 and 1996. Other acts to garner nominations in both the single and video categories include Coldplay (“Yellow”), Sonique (“Feels So Good”), All Saints (“Pure Shores”), Moloko (“The Time Is Now”), Toploader (“Dancing In The Moonlight”), and Robbie Williams (“Rock DJ”).
Beginning this week, the winners of the two categories will be chosen by votes from the public via the event’s official Web site. David, who recently signed to Atlantic in the U.S., is confirmed to perform at the awards, which will be held Feb. 26 at London’s Earls Court.
As previously reported, U2 will receive the outstanding contribution to British music award, before closing the show with a live performance.e
