Courtney Barnett had a bit of downtime in Ohio on Thursday (June 3) before taking the stage at the Nelsonville Music Festival, so she did what any child of grunge would do: she hopped in the studio with former Pixies bassist/singer Kim Deal’s other band, the Breeders.
“@courtneymelba CourtneyBarnett band—in Ohio yesterday to play ?#nelsonville?—visited us in the studio. Of course we had them sing backup vocals on a song,” the Breeders wrote in a Facebook post about the momentous hook-up.

Barnett sang a chorus on the untitled track with her drummer, bassist and sound engineer, according to a spokesperson, and she posted some pics from the session.
The Breeders reunited in 2013 with the classic line-up featuring Kim Deal and sister Kelley Deal, as well as bassist Josephine Wiggs and drummer Jim Macpherson a tour and are working on their first new full-length album since 2008’s Mountain Battles.
