NASCAR drivers and country stars will team up in January for a new Nashville festival with the impossibly long name “Nextel Sound and Speed Presented by SunTrust, a Motorsports and Music Celebration.”
Participants will include drivers Kyle Petty, Richard Petty, Tony Stewart, Michael Waltrip and Sterling Marlin and country stars Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Trace Adkins, Chely Wright, Jo Dee Messina, Diamond Rio and Kenny Rogers, among others.
Gill and Kyle Petty are the honorary co-chairs of the event, set for Jan. 13-14. Festival tickets come with a complimentary subscription to Country Weekly.
Proceeds will benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum charities. Victory Junction is a free camp in Randleman, N.C., for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
