Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell will perform the main title song, “You Know My Name,” for the upcoming James Bond film “Casino Royale.” The track was co-written with Bond composer David Arnold; “Casino Royale,” the first Bond film to star Daniel Craig in the lead role, opens worldwide on Nov. 17.
Cornell joins a star-studded roster of prior Bond title song performers, including Paul McCartney and Wings, Tina Turner, Duran Duran and Carly Simon. Madonna sang the title song for the most recent Bond film, 2002’s “Die Another Day.”
Meanwhile, Cornell is gearing up for the Sept. 5 release of Audioslave’s next Epic/Interscope album, “Revelations.” First single “Original Fire” was the top debut last week on Billboard’s Mainstream and Modern Rock charts, where it opened at No. 11 and No. 16, respectively.
The group will return to the live stage Aug. 25-26 for the U.K.’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
