Veteran chart-topper Conjunto Primavera has canceled a June 19 show at Phoenix’ Dodge Theatre to protest Arizona’s new immigration enforcement law.
The romantic norteno group, which was to have performed on a double bill with Los Rieleros del Norte, announced the move was “a categorical sign of support to victims” of the law, which is scheduled to take effect by August. Promoter Latino Events and Conjunto Primavera’s management made the decision to cancel the show, which could be rescheduled “if circumstances change,” i.e., if the law fails to take effect, according to the statement.
Conjunto Primavera is set to release its next album on Fonovisa, “Empaca Tus Cosas,” May 25.
