
Mark Ruffalo and Common have teamed up with We Stand United for a heartbreaking new video to call attention to the U.S. and Mexico border, where the Trump Administration has yet to unite separated families.
“Families are still being kept apart, and children are still in cages,” Common says in the clip. “We need to help these families. We will not rest until all the children are out of cages and back in their parents’ arms.”
Andra Day’s Grammy-nominated song, “Rise Up,” plays as the video tells the tale of a mother who was separated from her 8-year-old son. She was emotionally reunited with him at the end, but countless families aren’t so lucky.
Now, parents are being forced to pay to get their kids back, sometimes as much as thousands of dollars. Ruffalo and Common encourage viewers to donate to Families Belong Together, which helps pay for airfare, hotel and personal items for parents and kids released from detention. Watch the video below.
