Atlanta-based ColliPark Music has joined forces with Asylum Records, a Warner Music Group incubator label designed to provide a variety of services to urban and independent music labels. Marketing, distribution and sales for ColliPark artists will now be handled by Asylum.
ColliPark was founded by producer Mr. ColliPark, a longtime collaborator with the Ying Yang Twins and executive producer of the Atlanta rap duo’s latest album, “U.S.A.: United State of Atlanta” (TVT), which debuted last week at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 with a career-best sales week of 201,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The first two artists set for release under the new partnership are Homebwoi and Kadalack Boyz. Homebwoi is featured on rapper BG’s latest single, “Where Da At,” which was also produced by Mr. ColliPark. The single is currently No. 70 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts.
Mr. ColliPark, formerly known as DJ Smurf, also produced David Banner’s single, “Play,” which entered at No. 9 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart last week.
