“Coldplay Live 2012,” a live CD/DVD that documents the band’s world tour in support of “Mylo Xyloto,” will receive a one-night screening at multiplexes worldwide one week before its release. Coldplay’s latest live film will hit theaters on Nov. 13, ahead of its digital and physical release on Nov. 19.
Following the Nov. 13 screenings, premium network EPIX will premiere “Coldplay Live 2012” on Nov. 17. The 96-minute film, which was directed by Paul Dugdale and combines footage from the band’s performances in Paris, Montreal and at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival, will then be released two days later on CD/DVD, Blu-ray/CD and digitally.
“The Mylo Xyloto tour has been the most fun we’ve ever had as a band,” says Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in a statement. “It’s felt very uplifting right from the start; partly because we are proud of the music, the LED wristbands, the pyrotechnics, the lasers and all of that stuff, but mainly because of the amazing audiences that we’ve been playing for.”
Hot Tours: Coldplay Scores Massive Haul on World Tour
“Coldplay Live 2012” follows the band’s 2003 live set, the aptly titled “Live 2003,” which captured the band’s tour in support of “A Rush of Blood To The Head.” Director Dugdale’s last major concert-film project was Adele’s “Live at the Royal Albert Hall.”
Following “Mylo Xyloto,” which was released in October 2011, and its accompanying world tour, Coldplay will launch a “Mylo Xyloto” monthly comic series in February 2013. Check out the video for the band’s “Hurts Like Heaven,” which effectively sets up the upcoming series:
