
If Coldplay look cheerier than usual, they’ve good reason. The British alternative rock outfit is challenging Adele for the U.K. albums chart throne with their latest album, A Head Full of Dreams.
The fourpiece appeared on James Corden’s Late Late Show to perform the lead single “Adventure of a Lifetime” and the album’s title track. Frontman Chris Martin looked particularly sprightly for the mini-set. The singer — liberated from his piano — bounced about a stage decorated with a touch of India. The group also sat for a chat with the host Corden, who joined in for a sing-along as the show closed.
Coldplay and Adele Battle it Out For U.K. Chart Crown
Coldplay’s seventh – and reportedly final – album nudged ahead of Adele’s all-conquering 25 at the midway point of the U.K.’s chart week. It’s also on pace to open at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The act recently announced a string of international tour dates, beginning March 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and they’ve been unveiled as the halftime entertainment for the 2016 Super Bowl.
