When BBC Radio 1 DJ, Fearne Cotton, broadcast her final show on the station on Friday (May 22), the DJ got one major send-off— that even included Coldplay penning a special song for her.
Titled “Gone But Not F. Cotton,” the track is an upbeat track that recalls some of the DJ’s career highlights. “How to tell her thanks for the records she played?/ Thanks for introducing us to Lana del Rey,” frontman Chris Martin sings. “Thanks for the stories and all the good times/ Festival tales, Kilimanjaro climbs/ Thanks for all the mornings, in the Lounge we’d arrive/ And sweetly you’d tell us, “No swearing, we’re live!”
Coldplay were among the many, many acts who bid her a fond farewell after her decade-long career at the station. Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5 and more also said goodbye to her on social media.
