“Tonight’s live stream for TIDAL & KROQ has been postponed out of respect for the terrible events in Paris,” the band said in a statement, adding that tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date. The show was set to stream from downtown Los Angeles’ Belasco Theatre.
Since the band canceled on such short notice, there will still be a show to tide over fans already at the venue or on their way, though it won’t include any unheard music from the band’s upcoming seventh and final album, A Head Full of Dreams, due Dec. 4. “We’ll play a short set of old material so that your journey isn’t wasted,” the statement continued. “We send our love and prayers to the people of Paris. Love Coldplay.”
At least 118 people are reported dead after a mass shooting at Le Bataclan theater. Eagles of Death Metal reportedly escaped the theater unharmed, but two members of the crew are said to be unaccounted for. U2 was scheduled to film a live concert special for HBO in Paris on Saturday night, and now that show has been canceled.
