Bingo Players, “Out Of My Mind” (Case & Point Remix) (Hysteria Records)
After the bombings at the Boston Marathon earlier this week, many EDM artists expressed support and offered condolences. Among the DJs who took to social media in the wake of the bombing was talented Boston duo Case & Point. They have largely forgone social promotion of their newest track in order to provide updates about their hometown. Their dubstep-meets-trap rework of Bingo Players’ “Out Of My Mind” deserves attention in part because it is a more grown-up, complex production than the duo’s usual work, which typically falls into the progressive house genre. Additionally, Case & Point made expert use of the Heather Bright vocals, slowing them down for a MONSTA-esque effect and using them sparingly to let the heavy beat lead the tune. Kudos to Case & Point for not only showing their growth as producers, but also for representing their city well during this difficult week. -Lauren
The Aston Shuffle vs Tommy Trash – “Sunrise” (Dyro Remix) (Sunrise)
Dyro is an up-and-coming Dutch DJ who has been recently taken under the wing of Hardwell, and he has been putting out solid releases while slowly establishing himself as a name to remember. His latest release is a remix of The Aston Shuffle and Tommy Trash’s “Sunrise (Won’t Get Lost)” that completely changes up the original into something distinctly Dyro. Electro synths with stuttered percussion elements give the remix a very different vibe, while the singalong-friendly vocal remains front and center. The two-minute teaser is just a small taste of what the full track will hold when it gets a proper release on May 5, but repeat listening is still encouraged. -Jacob
Anthony Naples “Faceless” (Rubadub)
In February, Brooklyn newcomer Anthony Naples brightened up the dead of winter with his Moscato EP for New York party series-turned record label Mister Saturday Night. This month, he returned with glittering vibes and chubby beats packed with an ebullience fitting for the onset of spring. “Faceless,” one of the new record’s three tracks, is a superb hot weather jam. Well, it’s great for any climate, but it’s easy to imagine vibing in the sunlight to the track’s muffled vocals and high velocity, sparkling synths. -Elissa
Mark Knight, “Your Love” (Toolroom Knights)
Toolroom honcho Mark Knight has unwittingly made a gay spook club anthem wrapped in a progressive track with “Your Love.” That’s what happens when you take the most famous Kylie Minogue song and pitch down the chorus to underwater depths. Play this back to back with Yelle’s recent “L’amour Parfait” and you’ll bring out all the ghoulies. The video vacillates between Hannibal Lechter and Eyes Wide Shut set in an underground club (and possibly rooted in rape culture fantasies?), but whatever. You can bring your own skin mask if you must. Knight’s cycle of bass and drops should be enough to satisfy any primal urges. -Zel
