CODE caught up with Galantis this week to discuss the duo’s creative process and Coachella debut, as well as provide a glimpse into the music they’re currently listening to. Here’s the diverse playlist that the seafoxes assembled.
RY X, ” Berlin”
Australian signer/songwriter Ry Cuming delivers a haunting guitar ballad that showcases the Swedish duo’s ear for standout songwriting and musicianship.
Jamie xx, “Sleep Sound”
Like Galantis, the xx’s Jamie Smith has forged his own unique trail into dance music from prior work in other genres. “Sleep Sound” is a carefully constructed production that veers from hypnotic string plucks to a shuffling beat beneath chopped and reverbed vocal snippets.
Skrillex (ft. Killagraham & Sam Dew), “Stranger”
Galantis chose one of the most experimental cuts on the OWSLA boss’ debut album “Receess,” complete with unconventional percussive overlays and a shrill synth-driven drop.
Robin Thicke, “Feel Good” (Oliver Heldens Remix)
Spinnin’ Deep favorite Oliver Heldens adorns Robin Thicke’s latest single with an infectious upbeat bass line and sexy synth flourishes.
Galantis, “You” (Brillz Remix)
To finish off their playlist, the duo selects Brillz’s trap rework of their second single “You.” With bone-rattling bass and dissected vocals, this remix was first unveiled to the eager Coachella masses at Galantis’ Gobi Tent debut.
