The Bay Area got a little more bass-heavy when San Francisco veteran an-ten-nae announced he was teaming up with Oakland artist Releece to form their Dimond Saints side project. The low-end lovers have now brought their signature broken beats and future bass sounds to “Satisfaction,” the latest single by Los Angeles’ Hopscotch, also known as Angela LaBaw.
“We are super happy with the combo of Hopscotch’s voice and the production elements we brought to ‘Satisfaction,’ giving it that future bass twist,” said Dimond Saints.
The seasoned producers took a beat-driven approach on the rework, layering throbbing pads and droning bass notes beneath crisp hats and pointed snares. Hopscotch’s voice alternates between tightly coiled coos and lofty harmonies during distant brass breakdowns and arpeggiated chorus sections. “Dimond Saints are deep school homies!” Hopscotch said. “I was so stoked to have them work on this remix, especially having worked on these originals with Releece as a producer. I really love watching these guys blow up this spring, and I’m super proud that they’re representing the ‘Archer EP’ so hard with this track.”
Hopscotch will release her “Archer EP & Remixes” this month, featuring additional remixes by Rex Riot, Sigrah, Sounds What, Jantsen & Dirtmonkey, Brooksbrown, Christopher Norman, and Champagne.
