A man who identified himself as Kid Rock’s personal assistant was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession after a traffic stop on Rock’s tour bus early yesterday (Oct. 20) on the Florida Turnpike. Officers found a small amount of cocaine, two marijuana cigarettes, a glass pipe, and rolling papers on Kevin J. McMahon’s person and in his luggage. He was released from the St. Lucie County Jail yesterday on $16,000 bond.
Rock had performed Saturday night in West Palm Beach, Fla., with Aerosmith, but flew ahead to Nashville following the show. McMahon was the only passenger riding on the tour bus, which officers said they pulled over acting on a tip that narcotics were on board. A drug-sniffing dog named “Goose” was utilized in a top-to-bottom search of the vehicle, which also uncovered $3,717 in cash.
McMahon told police the drugs and paraphernalia were his. He also admitted using cocaine occasionally and smoking marijuana on a daily basis.
Rock’s publicist refused comment on the incident. The artist will be off the road until rejoining Aerosmith Nov. 1 in Phoenix.
