Clear Channel Entertainment will produce a U.S. version of its successful U.K. event, Download Festival.
The first U.S. Download Festival is set for Oct. 8 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., 2005, with the Killers headlining.
Also on the bill are Modest Mouse, the Arcade Fire, Doves, H.I.M and Mindless Self Indulgence. Like the UK version of the event, which drew 150,000 to Donnington Park in London this year, the U.S. Download Festival will include cutting-edge technology and media experiences.
Last year’s Download Festival, with Linkin Park, Metallica, Korn, Sum 41 and Iggy Pop on the bill, grossed $7.3 million, 10th highest gross of the year, according to Billboard Boxscore.
The Shoreline Download event is presented by Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s GameTap. Tickets for the festival go on sale on Sunday, July 31.
Download Festival is a collaboration between CCE Properties and Bill Graham Presents, the San Francisco division of Clear Channel Music.
The Download Festival Web site is up and running at www.downloadfestival.com.
