Clear Channel Radio and Sony Music will announce today that they are launching the talent contest “Radio Star.” The competition will air as a one-hour weekly radio show hosted by “American Idol’s” Ryan Seacrest and radio personality Elvis Duran.
Beginning Feb. 16, contestants will submit entries to a “Radio Star” Web site. Sony execs will choose acts to present during the show. Online fan voting will whittle the list to three finalists. The winner, chosen by Sony judges, will get a label deal with the company and will appear at select Clear Channel concerts.
Wrigley’s Winterfresh gum is the exclusive sponsor of the contest.
