Clear Channel Music Group and New York promoter John Scher have settled their longstanding legal dispute. Details were not disclosed.
The legal wrangling between Scher and CCE has been long and complicated. In 2002, Clear Channel acquired many of the assets of Scher’s former company, Metropolitan Entertainment, Inc., including a disputed non-compete agreement which covered Scher’s activities as a concert promoter.
In March, New Jersey District Court Judge Dickinson Debevoise ruled that Scher’s non-compete clause with Clear Channel Entertainment has run its course (Billboard, March 29, 2003).
The case between Scher and CCE concerned breach of contract and antitrust claims by Scher against CCE in the wake of Covanta’s bankruptcy.
