Claude VonStroke has proven himself to be a highly versatile remixer. Over the years, he’s taken on everyone from London Grammar to The Chemical Brothers, with his work spanning the gamut from melodic deep house to anthemic breaks.
Now the Dirtybird head honcho has been selected for an official spin on Rodriguez Jr.’s “An Evidence of Time,” taken from the French producer’s sophomore album Baobab.
The album, which arrived in June on Berlin’s Mobilee Records, solidified Rodriguez Jr.’s ability to craft intelligent, classically influenced electronic music. “An Evidence of Time” serves as the album’s down-tempo opener, offering a somber, stripped-down introduction to the LP.
Claude VonStroke’s remix, which Billboard Dance is exclusively premiering, re-contextualizes the piano-laden tune for the dance floor. Making effective use of the warm piano chords and wisping synth lines, VonStroke conjures up one of his deepest offerings yet.
Ultimately, the house veteran’s spin on “An Evidence of Time” is a testament to the diversity of his remix work. One never quite knows what they’re going to get from a Claude VonStroke rework, yet therein lies the appeal of his cross-genre remix catalog.
Rodriguez Jr.’s Baobab Remixes EP, which includes Claude VonStroke’s remix of “An Evidence of Time,” will be released on Mobilee on Nov. 24. Pre-order it here.
