Here’s something you might not have expected: Claire Danes is a big techno fan.
The Homeland actress visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show Monday and revealed her love for Berlin raves. Danes shares a particular appreciation for the renowned club Berghain that’s a converted industrial warehouse with a number of different rooms with different musical styles, as well as an ice cream parlor.

“It’s amazing; it’s the best place on Earth,” she said. “I was so scared when I first went in. Really, I had acute anxiety because I didn’t know what to expect. But it’s a blast and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.”
When she told DeGeneres about one fetish-themed party she attended there, for which some partiers were naked, the host was clearly disturbed by the idea.
“Can you imagine? There’s a naked person dancing next to you?” DeGeneres said, laughing with disbelief.

Danes said she had initially thought she “had a real aversion to” techno music at first.
“I thought that heavy metal and techno were the two genres of music that I just had no tolerance for, right?” she said. “You’ll go to Berlin, you might change your mind. You get sucked in.”
DeGeneres was clearly supportive enough of the new hobby, though, giving the star a “rave Baby Bjorn” so she can bring her son Cyrus along next time.
