The Churchills have hit the road in support of their Abrupt/Universal debut album “You Are Here.” The band last night (April 18) kicked off a tour supporting the Push Stars in Albany, N.Y., that will hit the Knitting Factory tonight in its New York hometo wn. The band’s itinerary currently runs through a May 12 show in Boston, but more dates are expected.
Interspersed with dates opening for the Push Stars, the Churchills will play a handful of headlining shows on off days of the tour. As of now, those shows fall in Kansas City, Mo., Birmingham, Ala., Athens, Ga., and Richmond, Va.
Last month the Churchills received some national exposure when actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler wore one of the band’s T-shirts on an episode of HBO’s hit drama series “The Sopranos.” Sigler, who plays mob boss Tony Soprano’s daughter Meadow, will be seen sporting the shirt again on the May 6 episode of the show. The band has also appeared twice on the ABC sitcom “Spin City.”
Prior to the tour, bassist Bart Schoudel engineered demos the band has been working on for its next album in his home studio, and vocalist/guitarist Ron Haney trained for the Boston Marathon, in which he ran earlier this week.
