In less than a year’s time, Christina Perri has morphed from an unknown singer/songwriter to a rising pop-rock star, thanks to the sorrowful anthem “Jar of Hearts.” On the other hand, Perri’s follow-up, “Arms,” is an effervescent love song that pairs the voracity of Florence & the Machine with the growling undertones of Adele‘s voice. The result is a hypnotically melodic tune with lyrics about the discovery of young, angst-ridden love. “How many times will you let me change my mind and turn around/I can’t decide if I’ll let you save my life or if I’ll drown,” Perri sings in a sweet, lilting voice that tones down her intensity from “Jar of Hearts.” With Perri’s debut album set for release on May 10, “Arms” offers another glimpse of the talented newcomer.
