Over the course of Christina Aguilera’s decades-long career, the songstress has touched on all kinds of fashion choices–from over the top, to throwback, to sexy.
In a recent video with W Magazine, the icon broke down her most memorable music video styles. She doted on her crop top/orange pants combo in “Genie in a Bottle” and her huge hair in “Lady Marmalade” that “weighed more than I did.”
Eventually, she talks about “Dirrty,” perhaps her most iconic and buzzed-about video. “It was living life at 21 at its best, and bringing chaps to the scenes and controversy flared. Sometimes, that’s what being creative, being an artist, being a risk taker is all about.”
She said that the video wasn’t meant to stir any pots, it was just having fun: “I look back at that video as being one of the best times. What was funny about this video is I didn’t think it was anything. To me, I was just having so much fun with my girls. Years later it was called twerking, but it’s been around for a long time.”
