It’s been almost 20 years since Christina Aguilera hit the scene with her self-titled debut album. Since then, the powerhouse has gone through many phases — most recently a shockingly understated one, which Paper magazine highlighted for its Transformation 2018 issue, published Monday (March 26).
Although the “Genie in a Bottle” singer admitted in the interview that she’s “a girl that likes a beat face, let’s not get it twisted,” she appears on the cover sporting a stunning little-to-no-makeup look, with her unlined eyes peeking behind wispy hair and a few nose freckles making a rare appearance. Her looks get increasingly bold and dramatic as readers click through the photos.
Aguilera dons Twiggy-esque eyelashes, glossy emerald lipstick and a sultry, sheer red dress drenched in water at different points throughout the series. While they certainly mark a transformation for the 37-year-old mother of two, the adventurous, empowered Xtina we know and love is still evident.
Aguilera has been putting her music career on pause lately but will be starring alongside Ewan McGregor in the upcoming romantic sci-fi film Zoe, set to premiere at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival.
