Christina Aguilera has officially filed for divorce from her husband Jordan Bratman, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
According to the divorce petition, filed in a Los Angeles court today (Oct. 14), the pop star cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. Aguilera is seeking joint physical and legal custody of Max, the couple’s 2-year-old son, and termination of Bratman’s ability to receive spousal support.

The documents also show that Aguilera and Bratman signed a prenuptial agreement before marrying in 2005 which stated that Aguilera’s earnings before, during or after the marriage are to be considered separate property.
On Tuesday, Aguilera released a statement confirming reports that the couple had separated. “Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever,” she said. The divorce petition lists the date of the couple’s separation as Sept. 11, 2010. TMZ sources say that “the marriage fell apart after Aguilera allegedly cheated on Bratman.”
The divorce filing comes shortly before Aguilera’s first feature film, “Burlesque,” hits theaters on Nov. 24.
