Chris Kläfford is the dark horse in AGT. The sleeper in the competition.
The Swedish singer and songwriter looks like he could be the friendly guy from down the pub, or your sister’s new boyfriend. Nope, his hair isn’t groomed with gel, he doesn’t have a Hollywood smile, won’t mug the camera. But he’s totally at home on the America’s Got Talent stage.
During the second night of AGT’s quarterfinals on Tuesday, Kläfford hit another original song, the folky “Cold at the Altar.” As he’s journeyed through the competition, he’s played his own tunes, and auditioned with a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” and made many fans along the way.
Judges Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union immediately got to their feet to salute Kläfford, as did the rest of the room. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see if America felt the same way and ushered the artist into the semis of season 14.
