The Associated Press reports that the Los Angeles city attorney’s office has charged Chris Brown with a misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a license, referencing a minor incident that occurred May 21 in the San Fernando Valley.
Arraignment is scheduled for July 15 at Los Angeles’ Van Nuys courthouse. If convicted of both charges, Brown would face up to a year in jail.
Additionally, the city attorney will refer the matter to the Los Angeles County district attorney, which could lead to Brown being charged with violating his probation, dating back to his beating of Rihanna in 2009. In a worst-case-scanerio, Brown could be hit with a four-year prison sentence.
But Chris Brown has fired back via Twitter: the R&B star says he has cooperated completely with the plaintiff and that no actual damage was done to the car. He even made the car’s rear the header background on his official Twitter page. Here is a sampling of what he’s been tweeting about the subject today:
My profile pic is the pic I took of the persons car after “the hit and run”. NO damage. Just a dirty car.once again, I gotta clear my name

I have a valid drivers license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene.
