A month before its premiere in theaters, Spike Lee’s latest film Chiraq has its first trailer.
The film’s plot is roughly founded in Aristophane’s Greek comedy Lysistrata in which the character Lysistrata, performed by Teyonah Parris, convinces the women of the community to withhold sex from their partners to bring an end to the violence occurring within their community. Set in Chicago, the film is bound to examine gang violence as it relates to sexual politics. The cast is chock-full of big names featuring Nick Cannon, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jennifer Hudson.
