The Red Hot Chili Peppers will spice up their upcoming “Greatest Hits” collection with the new songs “History” and “Fortune Faded.” The set is due Nov. 18 via Warner Bros. and draws primarily from the group’s decade-plus association with the label. Also included is “Soul To Squeeze,” the 1993 No. 1 Modern Rock Tracks Chart hit previously only available on “The Coneheads” soundtrack.
“Greatest Hits” will also be sold in a limited-edition package with a DVD featuring 15 of the band’s videos, including “Universally Speaking” and “Road Trippin’,” which have never been released in the U.S. Band members and video directors offer commentary on the clips, which are augmented with behind-the-scenes footage from the Peppers’ 2000 tour.
In addition, Nov. 18 will see the release of the DVD “Live at Slane,” taped in August in front of 80,000 fans at Ireland’s Slane Castle. The show goes heavy on recent rock hits such as “By the Way,” “Scar Tissue,” “Californication” and “Can’t Stop,” with favorites such as “Give It Away” and “Under the Bridge” thrown in for good measure.
The Chili Peppers will begin the fourth leg of their tour in support of last year’s “By the Way” on Oct. 8 in Las Vegas. The trek will wrap Oct. 27 in Calgary, Alberta.
