Cherry Lane Music Publishing company has signed a North American sub-publishing agreement for the Edizioni Curci catalog, which was founded in 1860 by members of the Curci family and it is still run by its descendants. Edizioni Curci continues to sign new Italian and international writers such as Tiziano Ferro, who was awarded the Latin BMI Award in 2004 for his album “Rojo Relativo” and in 2006 for his single “Tardes Negras,” according to a Cherry Lane press release announcing the deal.
The Edizioni Curci catalog includes concert, popular, classical and educational music by noted Italian writers, including “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me,” and the Grammy Award winning “Volare” (“Nel blu dipinto di blu”). The catalog also contains “Libertango” by the late composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla. Songs in the Curci catalog have also been performed and recorded by Italian legends Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli.
The deal was negotiated by Cherry Lane executive VP of business development Mike Connelly and Cherry Lane VP of business affairs Keith Hauprich; and for Edizioni Curci by CEO Alfredo Gramitto Ricci, managing director Michele Del Vecchio, international business affairs consultant Raphael Attar and the manager of the international publishing department Adelfa Lanfranchi.
