Veteran electronica duo the Chemical Brothers will return early next year with a new studio album, “Push the Button.” First single “Galvanize” features A Tribe Called Quest rapper Q-Tip and is due for commercial release Jan. 17 internationally and a day later in North America. The album follows on Jan. 25 via Astralwerks.
As previously reported, the group will be part of the annual Big Day Out tour of Australia and New Zealand, which runs from Jan. 21 in Auckland to Feb. 6 in Perth. Extensive touring is expected later in the year.
“Push the Button” is the follow-up to 2002’s “Come With Us,” which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart and No. 32 on The Billboard 200. The set spawned three major hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, including a No. 1 placement for “It Began in Afrika,” a No. 2 showing for “Star Guitar,” and a No. 8 peak for the title track.
The Brothers celebrated their 10th anniversary with the fall 2003 release of the retrospective album, “The Singles: 1993-03,” which featured new songs with rapper K-OS and the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne.
