Chelsea Handler took a moment to speak with Krewella for Billboard‘s coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Thursday (July 28), discussing the importance of speaking out through social media.
Though Handler said it’s common she’ll receive backlash over her statements online, she said it’s to be expected.
“I feel like that’s par for the course and I’m not really concerned with the people who don’t like me,” she said. “You have to speak for the small voice of people who do like you.”
Later, she explained, “My voice is to try to help people that don’t get that recognition, that don’t have a platform to speak about. It’s important to go to bat for people.”
