— Lorde: Soaring 17-12 on the Hot 100, “Royals” claims the chart’s Digital Gainer award for a third consecutive week, jumping 10-6 on Hot Digital Songs (145,000 downloads sold, up 35%, according to Nielsen SoundScan). With the sum, it passes more than a half-million in total sales (598,000). “Royals” is the first song to wear the Digital Gainer badge in three straight weeks since Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” (Dec. 29, 2012-Jan. 12, 2013).

— AWOLNATION: More than two-and-a-half years after it first appeared on a Billboard chart – it debuted on Alternative the week of Feb. 19, 2011 – “Sail” continues to make waves. It pushes 29-28 on Mainstream Top 40, spurring its No. 74 debut on Hot 100 Airplay (15 million, up 5%, according to Nielsen BDS). On the Hot 100, it reaches a new peak (29-25) in its 51st week on the list.
— Keith Urban: Urban claims his 15th No. 1 on the Country Airplay tally, as “Little Bit of Everything “steps 2-1. (It ranks at No. 35 on the Hot 100.) Urban boasts the ninth-most leaders, moving into sole possession of ninth place among all acts since the BDS-based chart launched in 1990, breaking a tie with Blake Shelton. Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and George Strait share the lead with 26 toppers each.
“Everything” is the lead single from Urban’s set “Fuse,” due Sept. 10. A second pre-order track, “Even the Stars Fall 4 U,” was released digitally on Aug. 20, and enters Country Digital Songs at No. 36 (19,000).
— Miley Cyrus: As current single “We Can’t Stop” ranks at No. 3, and could gain next week following her much buzzed-about performance on the MTV Music Video Awards on Aug. 25, ballad and next radio single “Wrecking Ball” (90,000 downloads sold) debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 50. The songs preview her debut RCA album Bangerz, due Oct. 8.
— Chris Brown: “Love More” (featuring Nicki Minaj), leaps 73-52 on the Hot 100, thanks in part to a 38% rise to 23,000 downloads sold and a 28% lift to 20 million audience impressions. The track is the third single off his upcoming sixth studio album “X”.
— Train: “Bruises,” featuring Ashley Monroe, charges 97-79 on the Hot 100 and 30-23 on Hot Country Songs, updating Train’s best rank on the latter tally. The pop/rock band previously reached No. 52 on the country survey with “Hey, Soul Sister” in 2010. While “Bruises” peaked at No. 44 on Country Airplay in March, it bullets at No. 16 on Adult Top 40 and pushes 23-21 on Adult Contemporary, airplay which helps spur a 43% gain to 32,000 downloads sold, its best weekly sum.
— Robin Thicke: As his “Blurred Lines” becomes just the 14th song to lead the Hot 100 for at least 12 weeks, follow-up “Give It 2 U” (featuring Kendrick Lamar) begins at No. 83. It arrives on Hot Digital Songs at No. 72 (24,000, up 79%) and Hot 100 Airplay at No. 75 (15 million, up 20%).
— Bonnie McKee: Although McKee nets her debut Hot 100 entry as an artist with “American Girl” at No. 100 (with the song jumping 28-25 on Mainstream Top 40), she’s penned nine top Hot 100 10s. Katy Perry has recorded four of them, with “Roar” a spot away from becoming McKee’s sixth Hot 100 leader as a writer (and the fifth recorded by Perry).
