Large audience impression gains from WWPR New York (up 1.7 million, according to Nielsen BDS) and WEDR Miami (480,000), Ross’ hometown, give way to the overall 223% jump to 5 million in listenership for “Touch ‘N You,” the first official single from Ross’ album “God Forgives, I Don’t,” due July 31.
High above on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Usher’s “Climax” and Rihanna‘s “Birthday Cake,” featuring Chris Brown, remain at their Nos. 1 and 2 positions, respectively. Both songs dip in audience (to 29 and 27 million, respectively) but not by enough to be overpowered by the new No. 3 song (up from No. 5), Ca$h Out‘s breakout single “Cashin Out.” The track jumps by 10% to 26 million. The Atlanta rapper surpasses veteran Young Jeezy‘s “Leave You Alone” (featuring Ne-Yo), which slips 3-4 with a 7% chop to 22 million in audience. “UP!,” the sleeper tune from LoveRance, slips 4-5 in its 37th week on the chart.

“Drank In My Cup” keeps Kirko Bangz afloat by hanging on to the No. 6 hole, while Fat Joe‘s “Another Round,” featuring Brown, stays grounded, as well, at No. 7.
Kanye West and his crew of Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz escalate 10-8 with “Mercy” (18 million, up 16%). The song returns to No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart (65,000 downloads sold in the week ending May 20, according to Nielsen SoundScan) and has sold 615,000 to date.
Trey Songz strokes his third R&B/Hip-Hop Songs top 10 hit of 2012, and 16th career upper tier title overall, as “Heart Attack” jumps 11-9 (18 million, up 15%). In its 29th week, Drake‘s “The Motto,” aka, his “y-o-l-o” jam (“you only live once, that’s the motto”), descends 9-10. The cut spent two weeks at No. 1 beginning in February.
KRIZZ KALIKO DEBUTS: Strange Music’s Krizz Kaliko debuts his fifth charting set and first top 10, “Kickin’ and Screamin’,” at No. 7 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with 9,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The debut is Kaliko’s best launch and rank to date, topping his former best start and peak established in 2009 when “Genius” opened at No. 14. Tracks on the new album include guest appearances by Tech N9ne, the co-founder of Strange Music, Twista, Chamillionaire and T-Pain.
At No. 12, Killer Mike debuts “R.A.P. Music” (5,000). R.A.P. is an acronym for Rebellious African People, giving predication of Mike’s political and topical rap style. The Atlanta native released the album on Williams Street Records, a label headquartered in the peachy city. The set stands as Mike’s best debut sales week since 2003, when “Monster” debuted at No. 4 with 80,000.
At the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums summit, Nicki Minaj pops right back into the No. 1 slot from No. 4 with the chart’s Greatest Gainer, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” (21,000, up 12%). It’s the set’s fifth total week in charge.
B.o.B‘s “Strange Clouds” maintains its silver medal spot (16,000, down 35%), while Rihanna’s “Talk That Talk” rebounds 5-3 (11,000, down 8%). Gospel sisters Mary Mary take a dive in their second week with “Go Get It,” the soundtrack to their We Television series of the same name. Despite a hefty 43% second-week slip, the release falls only one notch (3-4).
Rounding out the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums top five, Drake’s “Take Care” climbs 7-5 in its 27th week (10,000, down 7%), returning to compete in the top five with the two singing and two rap acts that remain in the region from last week.
