Last night (Apr. 19) marked not only the return of “Glee” after a brief hiatus, but also Filipino recording star Charice, who plays foreign exchange student Sunshine Corazon.
Charice Dishes On Return to ‘Glee,’ Bruno Mars-Penned New Single
As the episode begins, the New Directions plan a “Night of Neglect” benefit to raise money for their trip to Nationals. Sunshine, who joined rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline in the season two premiere, asks the New Directions if she can perform in the benefit.
“I’m such a better singer than anyone else,” Sunshine declares. “I’m all alone at the top.”
Sunshine performs a version of Celine Dion’s “All By Myself” that just makes us wonder, again, why Charice disappeared from the series for so long. And check out that glory note. Watch below.
The New Directions agree that Sunshine can perform with them if she brings her 600 Twitter followers to the benefit.

Sue gathers the glee club’s enemies into a “Legion of Doom,” comprised of ex-director Sandy Ryerson, Vocal Adrenaline coach Dustin Goolsby, and Will’s ex-wife Terri. The legion tries to ruin the benefit, and almost succeeds by making Tina cry.
Mercedes, who has been feeling neglected all episode, performs Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way,” and even Rachel can’t out-diva her. Watch below.
The “Night of Neglect” episode definitely didn’t neglect its audience. We’re hoping to see Charice return next week to belt out some Lady Gaga during the 90-minute “Born This Way” episode airing Apr. 26.
