Chance the Rapper has been widely praised for his uplifting lyrics and civic engagement, and now he’s getting getting the ultimate acknowledgment: an invitation to Barack and Michelle Obama’s inaugural Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago.
The summit will take place on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, and “hundreds of leaders from around the world will come together to exchange ideas, explore creative solutions to common problems and experience civic art, technology and music from around the world.”
It’s a huge honor for the rapper, who hails from the Windy City along with the Obamas, but not the first he’s received from the former president. Obama gave the 24-year a shout-out at his free concert in August during the city’s Bud Billiken Parade, where he served as grand marshal.
