Kanye West received some backlash Wednesday (April 25) after showing support for President Donald Trump and posting a photo in a “Make America Great Again” hat, with the caption “we got love.”
He also criticized former President Barack Obama: “Obama was in office for eight years and nothing in Chicago changed.”

The string had fans questioning the West’s sanity, but his friend Chance the Rapper took to Twitter to defend the hip hop mogul.
He replied to Ebro Darden of Hot 97, who tweeted out, “I wonder if @kanyewest has caught up with @chancetherapper @gherbo @lildurk on his hometown of Chicago??”
Two days earlier, West told Darden, “I love Donald Trump” during a radio interview.
In his response, Chance noted that nothing is wrong with his friend Kanye, and even talked to him recently: “Talked to him two days ago. He’s in a great space and not affected by folk tryna question his mental or physical health. Same Ye from the Vmas, same Ye from the telethon.”
“Black people don’t have to be democrats,” he continued.

After facing a bit of pushback for his own comments, Chance tweeted out two hours later: “Next President gon be independent.” He followed it up with a gif of Beyonce pulling a stressed out Jay-Z from a room. We take it Chance is leaving the controversy for now.
