Critically adored Australian artist Kasey Chambers will visit the United States next month for her first dates here since the release of her third album, “Wayward Angel.” The run will open Aug. 5 in Baltimore and encompass 16 dates that will close Aug. 25 in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Among the stops is an appearance at the venerable Newport Folk Festival (Aug. 7) and an Aug. 14 appearance on the West Virginia Public Broadcasting show “Mountain Stage” that will also feature Billy Joe Shaver, Tony Joe White and the Greencards.
Chambers is expected to perform several songs slated for her as-yet-untitled fourth album. The set will be recorded later this year for a tentative 2006 release.
Released in late September by Warner Bros., “Wayward Angel” bowed at No. 31 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and No. 15 on the Top Heatseekers list.
