The “Something Just Like This” lyric video was streamed more than 9 million times in its first 24 hours of availability, according to Youtube, marking a new record previously held by Justin Bieber.
The Chainsmokers and Coldplay unveiled “Something Just Like This” live at the Brit Awards last week just hours after the song hit streaming services and YouTube with hand-drawn visuals (watch it below).
Bieber had set the record in 2015 with his “What Do You Mean” lyric video, which was played 8.2 million times in its first day.
The Chainsmokers also currently hold the record for the most viewed lyric video ever on YouTube with “Closer,” which currently has 1.2 billion views and is the only lyric video to have surpassed the 1 billion mark.
“Something Just Like This” debuted at No. 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart based on only two days of performance. The song will be featured on The Chainsmokers’ much anticipated debut album, Memories…Do Not Open.
