Celeste is one of Britain’s breakout stars of 2021. Now it’s America’s turn to tune in.
The soul singer already snagged the BRITS Rising Star award and the BBC’s Sound of 2020 poll. No pressure. That hot streak stretched on when, earlier this month, Celeste saw her debut LP Not Your Muse open at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.
There’s more silverware on the horizon. Celeste’s cut from The Trial of the Chicago 7 soundtrack, “Hear My Voice,” is nominated for best original song at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards, slated for Monday, March 1.
On Wednesday night (Feb. 24), the Londoner stopped by The Late Show to perform “Hear My Voice” in the way it was meant to be heard: with a full band and lush, orchestral treatment.
For a late-night TV performance, it was all class.
The deluxe edition of Not Your Muse features “It’s Alright,” Celeste’s collaboration with The Late Show’s bandleader Jon Batiste.
