Cee Lo Green is no stranger to launching careers, as he has done for his contestants on NBC’s “The Voice.” But his latest project may be the most unique – and inhuman – collaboration yet: his pet Persian cat is remixing the “Meow Mix” jingle.

Green headed to the studio with Purrfect, his pet Persian cat whom he rescued this past year and who has been a regular on “The Voice” in Green’s judging segments.
In a partnership with Del Monte, the well-known jingle with the repetitive meow refrain will return to TV after a 16-year hiatus.
“Purrfect was thrilled to hear about this new deal with Meow Mix cat food,” Green said in a statement. “That sultry purr of hers is perfect for a modernized remix of the iconic Meow Mix jingle. Watch out cats!”

The track has been available on www.MeowMix.com since Friday, and for each download of the song, one pound of Meow Mix cat food will be donated to Pets Are Wonderful Support, Los Angeles, for pets in need.
“This is truly the ‘perfect’ opportunity to introduce the Meow Mix cat food jingle to a whole new audience of pet lovers,” said Sue Resnicoff, Director of Cat Food Marketing, Del Monte Foods, in a statement. “We’re so thrilled CeeLo and Purrfect the Cat were up for the job of remixing this classic and memorable jingle.”
The hip-hop spin on the perky jingle may be bizarre to some and hilarious to others, but few would disagree that it’s not a totally unexpected move from Cee Lo Green.
