Modern soul artist Cee-Lo has been tapped to lead this year’s Seagrams Gin Live tour. The run will kick off Sept. 17 in San Jose, Calif., and close Oct. 23 in Miami Beach, Fla. Tweet and Teedra Moses are also on the bill, as is comedian Danté Carter.
The headliner’s latest Arista album, “Cee-Lo Green Is the Soul Machine,” is among 73 titles on the initial “longlist” for the 2004 Shortlist Music Prize. Released in March, the set debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 13 on The Billboard 200.
In 2002, Tweet’s Murder Inc./Def Jam debut peaked at No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally and bowed at No. 3 on The Billboard 200. Last month, Teedra Moses’ TVT debut, “Complex Simplicity” opened at No. 10 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart and reached No. 20 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
