CBS Radio, a unit of CBS Corp, said today (July 12) it was cutting an unspecified number of jobs at its radio stations in the United States.
The company declined to specify the number of job reductions, although a source familiar with the matter said CBS was cutting about 115 positions, out of the more than 8,500 full and part-time positions, at its 179 stations.
The job cuts are part of a previously announced initiative to manage costs. More than a month ago, CBS announced plans to divest several stations in smaller markets with lower revenue producing potential, including those in Memphis, Buffalo and Rochester.
