Cashmere Cat and Sophie came out with a collaborative track as weird, poppy and mind-blowing as a joint shared between two turnt up teddy bears on the back of a magic school bus.
At first, “9 (After Coachella)” sounds adorable and glittery, but it quickly becomes what sounds like a score to a scene of angry seven year olds destroying a rainbow factory with black metal sledgehammers. Then we’re back to brightness with romantic strings and angelic vocals from “Lean On” star MØ, whose lyrics mirror the song’s strangeness, singing longingly about some character that spreads confusion.
“9 (After Coachella)” is the latest single from Cashmere Cat’s upcoming album 9, previously called Wild Love, but, guess he changed his mind on which track was his favorite.
